Make sure to always include content files in project output, otherwise XNA won’t be able to load the file since it isn’t in the Content directory!

The Google Chrome Freeze Fix
NOTE: I do not know the exact reason that this problem was fixed, but I will provide the steps that I took to end up with a working installation of Google Chrome. NOTE 2: I’m not responsible for your hardware or software.  I am just trying to offer suggestions to a problem that really irritated me. Hello, friends. Long time, no reading of my posts. :(  I just wanted to comment on a fix...

I haven’t been keeping up with this quite like I should.  I am now working on a small project with Python 2.7 and Google App Engine.  It has been fun so far. First piece of information that I learned: in YAML, you *must* use tab == 2 spaces and you must always have a space after ‘:’ in order for GAE to accept the update. Just really wanted to update this asap.

Gamers Who Code →
This is a group I created on Evolve, a video-game-social-network-and-group-finder service.  It’s a pretty cool thing that has been in Beta for several years (is it finally release level??).  Anyways, just put up the first post in the forums.  I really like how in a community like Evolve, I can create my own sub community.  It is almost like those small business start-up “domes”...

Don't fall for the trickery!!!
So I got on my desktop this evening after work, and voila! My mouse won’t move farther than 20px in any direction!  I tried rebooting, searching Google, and other silly troubleshooting tasks.  After about 10 minutes, which is when I was thinking that I need to re-install Windows 8, I realized I left my Wacom Splash tablet plugged in… guess where the pen for the tablet was?…...

WatchWatch
I think this is very important as a programmer, especially with the rise in security and privacy concerns.  You don’t have to listen to the whole thing, but just the U-PnP portion.  Shoot, check any private network that you get on!  Make the world a more secure place and go to this website to check if you have U-PnP enabled on the WAN!  Go to the “ShieldsUp!” application to...

Gamers Who Code
Hey, I play video games.  I want to make video games.  I have a hacksaw of 1’s and 0’s (I program).  I use Evolve to connect with other gamers (along with Steam) and I wanted to connect with both gamers and coders at the same time.  So I created this group on Evolve.  You should check it out if you are not a part of Evolve!  If you are, check out the group I created!

CoderWall
Have you checked out CoderWall yet?? If you program in any way, then you probably should. It is a really cool place that is a mix of Tumblr, LinkedIn, and StackOverflow, in my opinion. Let me know what you think of it. Leave a comment or send me a message with your name on there if you would like. :) Cheers. -Ingshtrom

Powershell
I am working on a powershell module right now that takes input from the user to create alias' to do more complex things like call other functions/cmdlets WITH parameters. Would you use it if you had access to it?

Inspiration From Unexpected Places
Merp Derp This is a short post on rap, Lil Wayne, and the inspiration he has given me. I have always despised rap because I felt that it didn’t “have any soul” to it or that the lyrics didn’t mean anything. Today, I watched some of Lil Wayne’s biography on YouTube and it has changed my perspective dramatically. main() { After watching only a few minutes of...

Actual Facebook Graph Searches: Be Careful →
I haven’t been a big fan of Facebook for a while now, and I just want to reiterate that there is nothing private on the Internet. People don’t seem to understand this and are sharing private data while also complaining that it “leaked”. The understand it is Facebook’s responsibility, but sometimes they aren’t enough and you need to just be mindful of what you...

mikebithell: It’s been nearly 6 years since I bought this iMac. It’s the iMac I made Thomas on. It’s special. But it is very, very old. And it’s time to upgrade. I’m going PC, because I need expandability, and honestly, because I want this to be a gaming machine too. The problem: I have never bought a PC… I take it you want a desktop? I have built a desktop, and am actually looking to...

Block Cursor Everywhere
So I finally got this added to the Sublime Text 2 package repository. I was kind of a n00b when it came to following some of the standards and being very detailed with the things I included in my package. I am not doing anything that crazy with the package, but I thought it was a nice little thing that I did a few months ago. I want to get more into open source software and building my...

Source Version Control
To start off, I have only been in the programming world since the summer of 2009. You could call me a n00b, but I have this drive to learn more, so I know my fair share of useful information. :) Anyways, my last post got me thinking about version control, and the ‘best’ one out there. I figured I would put together this post about some of my thoughts on the ones I have used. My...

Git Lost a Commit
I learned, the hard way, how to recover my code after a checkout to an old commit. Lucky for me, other people have done this as well, and there are things in place to prevent loss of data in Git! There are guides in other parts of the web that can help you on this, but you have two choices if you do the same thing (it’s really scary after several hours of uncommited work!): You can use...

Aaron Swartz, A Tribute
I just learned about the tragedy of Aaron Swartz, whom was an advocate for open source information on the Internet.  May you rest in peace in a happier place.  I wish that all family and friends can recover from this horrible lost.  Thank you Aaron.
